Hey there everyone, I just found this site today and decided to jump in.
My name is Alex and I live in the burbs of Kansas City. I grew up in a pretty religious neutral family, we went to lots of different churches when I was a kid. As I got older, I became more and more skeptical of the bible and eventually religions in general. I do find myself fascinated by them though, they seem so useless, yet so many people are drawn to them. It baffles me. I've read several really good books on the matter (the best being The Case Against Chrstianity...I highly reccomend it) but in no way consider myself to be an expert.
My views on the subject of religion are simple. They are antiquated beliefs that have run their course. Much like the thought that the world was flat at one time. Their usefulness has long expired, therefore making them superfulous, we no longer need a reason to get people to gather into productive societies...we already have them.
I could go on forever, but I'll stop there for now. I'm sure you will see more here and will get a feel for me.
I look forward to reading many of the interesting topics here.
