Hello, I am an atheist.
I was raised as a Catholic in Mexico, mainly by my mother. My father, however, raised my interest in science and history from a young age. I started learning about science, which confronted religion. I started going to go to Sunday school, required to be in First Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, etc. in Catholicism. I started to notice the utter idiocies the teacher was presenting, such as three gods in one. I asked her if it was three different people, she said no. I asked her if they were one person, she said yes. Then I asked her, why call them three then? She gave no answer, and ashamed by the idiocy of what she taught, simply told me that "we would go over that later". She gave the same answer over a variety of questions, such as what does god look like, why did god allow evil, why did he make us imperfect, etc. In fear of offending god and getting sent to hell, I embraced Catholicism and all I was taught, and dismissed conflict with science by citing idiotic justifications. I finished Sunday school and went through with First Communion at age 11. My family moved to the US from Mexico in 2004 and I was exposed to what I perceived as heresy and demon-worshipping baby-killing protestant sinners. That same year, I started to think deeply at night; if god was good, he wouldn't allow suffering in the world, so I concluded god was evil and I became as misotheist (god-hater). I went on to further question, and decided that god was not necessary to explain how things happened in the world, so I became an agnostic. I then went on to learn more history and more science, and I finally concluded that god doesn't just not exist, but that he can't exist, and that science is the only proper method to explain the world.
I hope to share my views here.
