Ok nkb. I am male, and a dedicated athiest, have been from my middle teens, which was many moons ago. I am married, have two adult chlidren, who are both non believers in fairytales also, as are their partners. So we are a religious free family, hence lots of harmony.:D I am a huge fan of Christopher Hitchens, the reason being he's as blunt (doesn't suffer fools gladly) and straight to the point as Richard Dawkins is "gentlemanly". Dawkins I admire immensely also.

I have to admit ignorance about Aussie non-belief and belief. Are there a lot of religious nuts there? Do you have to stay closeted as a nontheist? Is it more sensible than the USA? As good as England?

Hi ohc. No we don't seem to have the religious nuts or extreme religious christian views you have in your fair country. There are no jerry fallwell, pat robertson clones in this country as far as I know.We are fairly laid back down here, even though the majority of religious sheep are christian, and we have the freedom to be Athiests if we so choose. We are not looked upon as evil godless infidels.

No, Tassie like all the other mainland states a has Labor goverment, plus we now have a Federal Labor Goverment, so the conservative side of politics, where the majority of the religious nutcases ooz from, don't have a lot of sway, and are normally ridiculed down here anyway!:D

i was talking with some guy who was at a very religious school. he said they were all very religious around there.
