Looking around the forum here....it seems that most topics are about Catholocism or Christianity, how you don't agree with their ideologies, you hate those religions blah blah. But the question i pose is, do you dislike other religions??
If most of you are atheists, and you dislike Christianity, then surely that must mean that you dislike Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and other religions. Or is being an atheist all about disliking Christianity? You're not allowed to dislike Islam because you think that you're racist. Why arn't there any topics here about Islam? Judaism? And other world religions.

Another thing, do most of you believe that Jesus actually existed as a person?? If not, then does that mean that you do not believe in Muhammed? And all those other religious figures that appeared before Christ was born or around that time?

Because in most of your english-speaking countries the religion with the most practitioners and most political power is Christianity. This has two consequences:

A) We are much better versed in Christianity then in other religions, because we grew up around it. We thus have an in-depth knowledge that we don't really have of other religions. I mean, what's the religious basis for the caste system in India? I have no idea.

B) Most of the times religion interferes with our lives it is Christianity doing it. I don't think I've been anywhere where the Hindu prohibition against eating beef has stopped me from getting a steak, but are places all over the US where you can't buy beer on sunday.

The one other religion which has a large effect on the American populace is Islam, and quite frankly everybody already knows that fundamentalist Muslims are crudbags. An in-depth refutation of Islam would also require (For me anyway) a good deal of research into the history of Islamic thought. I haven't even read the Koran, and I don't really relish the thought of reading a whole book I don't care about specifically for the purpose of criticising a religion most people already dislike anyway.

In your blind rush to justify your persecution complex, it seems you didn’t bother to check some of the posts on other religions. If you had, you would see that any objective Atheist rejects any dogma regardless of where it comes from. In my humble opinion, the reason that the majority of posts deal with rejection of Christianity is that Christians seem to be the only ones stupid enough to try and defend their dogma against objective arguments on this message board - and because most of the individuals posting on this board live in Christian-dominated societies.

I personally don’t believe there was a Jesus. If there was, he was attributed his supernatural magical powers by early Christians who sought to justify their religion with a franchise from the deities.

I think there was a Muhammed. I also think he was a lying, manipulating sack of camel feces who made up his book of lies in order to secure power. This is the main purpose of any religion: power. Whether it is a witch doctor pretending to pull chicken entrails from a sick patient’s stomach or the pope calling the shots in the Vatican, they are all power-brokers playing a sordid game to control their fellow humans.

Nail yourself to a cross somewhere else. Your sense of hurt is unfounded. We don’t hate you. We pity you. We only wish that you were free to enjoy your one and only life while you still have the chance.

Hey, I know a shitload about the Aztec religion, and to a lesser degree the philosophy of the whole area of mesoamerica. I'm fairly sure I know more about it then you do.

Have you ever played the game Telephone? I start by whispering something in your ear. You turn to the person on your other side and whisper to them what you think I said. That person turns to the person on their other side and whispers what they heard, and so on. The last person says it out loud, and everyone laughs at how different it is from the original phrase that I whispered.

Have you ever heard a rumor spread? It seems like each time it is passed on, it grows even more fanciful and even further from the truth.

I really don't know whether anyone named Jesus existed. If he existed, I don't know whether he did any of the marvelous things people say he did. All I know is that 2000 years is a long time - plenty of time for a story to grow all out of proportion.

The same goes for Muhammed. Besides, I'm an atheist! Why should I care about all those "religious figures"?

I stand at your side. Totally lame! Ghoulslime spent 20 years living in other countries. The more backwards the people are the more pride they seem to have in their worn-out traditions. My culture comes from ancestors who where clever enough to innovate – that’s why MY culture dominates the world. It is not only stupid, it is one of the most dangerous forces in the world. Think about how many people have been murdered over ethnic clashes just in the 20'th century. Dare I say, it might even be more dangerous than religion. Not as stupid as religion, however, you can prove that where you come from exists :)

THAT THERE DESERVES THE DEEPEST PITY "HELL" HAS TO OFFER! why hold more faith in something that does not exist over the faith in yourself? why not believe in yourself rather than something you cant see or touch? For me to personally sit in church every sunday and be brainwashed with a bunch of crap that isnt scientifically proven it is an ass load of wated time.. I'll skip that culture and tradition this lifetime. I'd rather be at work helping save peoples lives sunday morning so they can live to tell about it.
