This is horrific. These animals should be shot. Beliefs can be dangerous things.

No, just let the media humilate them. That's more effective in the long run.

What's reassuring in a way is that despite being charged and sentenced - she is still proclaiming that the child she tortured is a witch. This just goes to show that we as a nation (i.e. generally sane and reasoned - to an extent, and generally secular) regard this primitive, neanderthal cultural beliefs as wrong and illegal. It sends a powerful message to all those deluded fucks that they are wrong. Of course I doubt it will help that much, but I just hope those bitches, that bastard and all like them suffer. Fuckin child abusers.

There was a similar incident here in the States. A woman in Milwaukee took her autistic son (whom she believed was possessed) to a exorcist who sat on the boy in an attempt to drive out the demons. The boy died. I don't remember what the verdict was, but I watched some of the trial on TV. Very sad. The worst part was the woman couldn't afford real help for the boy because she was poor.

The really terrible thing is that that kind of stuff happens all the time with people who pretend to be doctors. Some pseudo-psychologists believe that you can cure detatchment anxiety by smothering kids in pillows to simulate birth.

It's the whole mindset of thinking without science that is so dangerous. Religion is a breeding ground for this kind of thinking, but it extends everywhere.
