Hmm...
I seem to like a lot of "greatest hits" albums, but my full collection is a lot more eclectic than this.
1. Antics, Interpol
2. Greatest Hits, Billy Joel
3. Led Zeppelin IV
4. Revolver, Beatles
5. The Best of Steve Miller Band
6. Greatest Hits, The Eagles
7. Forty Licks, Rolling Stones
8. The Very Good Years, Frank Sinatra
9. Platinum Glenn Miller
10. Be Here, Keith Urban (I know, owning country music would probably be a lot more appropriate if I lived in the midwest, I apologize)

Again, dredging up the last ten of anything cruelly taxes my short-term memory issues. (For example, when I walked over to the CD shelf and started looking for recent acquisitions, I forgot why I was doing that.)
Anyway:
Curtis Mayfield: Superfly
Israel Kamakawaiwo'ole: In Dis Life
Hapa: In the Name of Love
Death in Vegas: Dead Elvis
Wilipan: Musica del Pueblo Mapuche
Sinatra: My Way -- Best of (A $5 bootleg CD that turned out to be blank. That's life.)
Jack Johnson: In Between Dreams
Tom Vedvik: Sutra Spin
Natty and Nice: A Reggae Xmas
The Lashing Dogs: When Lost
HMS Beagle

I can only remember back as far as the last 8 acquisitions, which are predominantly jazz:
1. Louis [Armstrong] and his Friends
2. Hancock, Becker & Hargrove Live at Massey Hall
3. Warren Zevon's Enjoy Every Sandwich
4. Keith Jarrett's The Melody At Night, with You.
5. Wynton Marsalis's The Midnight Blues
6. Compiled by a friend: Lee Morgan and Carmell Jones recordings
7. Compiled by same friend: Dorham, Reece, & Hubbard recordings
8. Soundtrack to Men With Guns

If you like Floyd, check out Luther Wright and the Wrongs album "Rebuilding the Wall". It's "The Wall" done bluegrass.
Don't listen to much classic rock outside of The Velvet Underground, and for them I just have the box set (which I think includes most everything).
As for not recognizing the music, my list is mostly indie Hip-Hop and "machine" music. Rhinoq loves a good drum beat.

Absolutely:
Ra (middle-eastern flair, great voice, awesome songwriting)
Tool (how do you explain Tool? One of the most influential bands ever)
Shinedown (Modern rock, good songs)
Cold (Great songwriting, killer classic-style drummer)
Atomship (Like Dream Theatre on acid after an alien abduction)
Porcupine Tree (modern progressive rock, odd time signatures, great stuff)
Flaw (a bit darker and angstier, but great melodic bridges)
Did you avoid the Grunge/Seattle scene (like me)? If you missed some of the earlier Stone Temple Pilots or Soundgarden, they're worth picking up. Also, Alice in Chains and Candlebox are two nineties bands with a classic feel.
And if you're a Frank Zappa fan, you might want to give a listen to Primus. Sailing the Seas of Cheese is a good start.

I don't really have many of my own albums, because i borrow most of my music of friends. Recently i have bought a few of my own albums, and these are the ones i have bought in the past six months or so.....
Cog, The New Normal
Gog are a great Australian proggressive rock band, whose music has being compared to Tool. They have just gone moderately big here in Australia, with their first (70 minute long) album, The New Normal. They combine heavy sounds with softer sounds, to create some great music (if your into that sort of thing). Cog are currently my favorite band.
Shihad, Love Is The New Hate
Shahad are a hard rock band, originally from New Zealand, but now living in Australia. They have being around for over ten years, and have released six albums. Their latest, Love Is The New Hate, contains some of their hardest tracks yet, along with some over their softest. They are a politically minded band, and this gives them plenty of amunition. Shihad were also once known as Pacifyer.
Karnivool, Themata
Karnivool are one of the few good nu-metal bands around. They propbably are not known outside of Australia, and they are on an indapendant label. I only just bought the CD so i cannot give a full description of their music yet.
I also like In The Grey, Tool, and Into Ending.

Who you callin' a hillbilly? Just because us back-woods North Dakotans base compatibility on our STD's (http://thelegionnaires.net/audio/2005-04-15/12%20You%20Got%20the%20Worms.mp3) and write love songs to corpses (http://thelegionnaires.net/audio/2005-04-15/13%20Rhotten%20Rhonda%20-%20Chariots%20of%20Fire%20-%20Dixie.mp3), don't mean we don der be hillbillies.
