Surprised there were no jabs about religion. Seemed the perfect setup if you ask me. Something like: "I like drinking from the big bottle in the corner, even if I have to say the rosary before they give me my vitamin pill. It's cool" or "local priests especially like the transparent plastic around the children's rooms."

Whats the fuck's with the designe of these places!? :/

They are the strangest and most impracticle ideas for homes that i have ever seen. Its like a house for an oversized mouse, complete with tubing that you have to crawl through to get around your house!

It even has an exercise wheel (just like the ones for mice, but bigger). Strange......

This is a typical Onionspoof, this time targeting habitat for humanity. The whole thing cracked me up.

The Onion strikes again. But, seriously, Habitat for Humanity is a great non-profit doing a boat-load of good work in enabling poor communities to get decent housing. When are we going to see atheists banding together to organise this sort of stuff on the same scale as Christian churches and organisations ?

Well, for one thing, a lot atheists are quiet about being atheist. In some communities, it could be bad for ones security. For another, atheists generally don't organize like that, or have fund raisers or charge dues.

Habitat is a solely xian endeaver, although anyone can participate. And, yes they do great work.

Fortunately, atheists don't have to 'band together'* to do good. We have plenty of secular organisations to choose from, like the US Peace Corps (Philboid did his part in Thailand, 1989-90).

*A rather ovine image, if you ask me. But I suppose that explains the need for a Shepherd. ;)

"When are we going to see atheists banding together..."

I think the single largest deterrent to this is that atheists have such varying world views (think VoR and Amazonis and StillSurviving) that their atheism does not give them a reason to "band"

It's been said before, but I'll say it again. Herding atheists is like herding cats.

That doesn't mean atheists don't care or participate in things like HFH. Plenty of atheists are involved with programs like the Peace Corps or Americore, or local environmental and social programs.
