I think I might. What good has religion done, if any? I believe that in the past, it stabilized society. Now that we're syabilized, we can rid ourselves of the notion. Agree, disagree, or any other comments?

Some run charities and non-profit hospitals. That's good, right?

Depends on if they actually help the people instead of help them 'pray' and give them 'natural cures'. Secular hospitals are better funded, and I'm pretty sure there are secular charities, if the christians hadn't capitalized on the idea there would probably be more.

I mean like St. John hospital in Detroit. It's a Catholic-run hospital, and they practice *real* medicine, not phony-baloney "spiritual" healing.

I would say that religion caused just as much (if not more) problems in the past than it does today...

The whole question is invalid
Would it were not for religion, man kind would develop new devices that drive us to do harm in in the name of some other group delusion.
Soviet style communism had that effect without "religion". It seems like man kind just *has* to supernaturalize his entitlements to murder and conquer.
In fact, there was a time long, long before that when human beings didn't even consider their "gods" when they enslaved others. Morality functioned simply through a straight forward risk/reward/consequence system.
So, don't feel too bad that all the God-shit is still with us. It'll go when man kind needs a more effecient way to connect and unite the will of the masses.
Besides, religion hasn't "caused" anything, clearly, we caused - it.
