Okay, first post. We were discussing the evil that is The Center for Reclaiming America (http://reclaimamerica.org)

A few statements to prime the pump:

As a means to accomplish this mission, the CENTER focuses on five key fronts of the modern-day culture war: (1) Religious Liberties, (2) the Sanctity of Life, (3) the Homosexual Agenda, (4) Pornography, and (5) Promoting Creationism.

Darwinian Theory Breeds and Encourages Racism

Huxley Admits Sexual Reasons for Evolution Theory

Most Americans Agree: Creationism Should be Taught in Our Schools

At 18 days (before the mother even knows she’s pregnant) her unborn
baby’s heart is beating. (Abortionists usually do not let the mother considering
an abortion hear the heartbeat or even tell her it exists.)

(on homosexuality) There is Hope for Change. How do we know? Research increasingly says so!

Immutable Characteristics — No! Minority groups share
unchangeable, benign, non-behavioral traits such as race, ethnicity,
disability, or national origin. Homosexuals are the only group to
claim minority status based on behavior!

(in discussing Terry Schiavo) “Unless we wrest from our robed masters the right to set
social policy ... we will follow the path already taken in
Nazi Germany. It was for the ‘well-being’ of society that
mass euthanasia was practiced in 1930s Germany. Hitler
exterminated over 273,000 people before the Holocaust
really got started. His program to purge those who have
lives not worth living included the aged, the infirm, the
senile, the mentally retarded, and ‘defective’ children.”

So, what does everyone think about these people and their tactics?

Dude, I just spent 5 minutes on that site, and I had to close my browser. That is REALLY disturbing. I'm going to have to let the adrenalin slow before I can even type an intelligent reaction.

I know, that's how I felt. And they claim that they get through to millions. Have you ever watched this guy? We get the Coral Ridge Hour as part of our Sunday morning lunacy.

LOL, the modern day culture war. With who? Anyone who doesn't agree with you?

Religious liberties- for christianity.

The homosexual Agenda? What would that be? Are they trying to take over America or something?

Pornography! HA! Good luck fighting that .

Promoting Creationism?! I wish we could have a chat with someone from their organization on this forum. Muahahahah- To think how we would destroy them!

I heard some Catholics talking about how the "Homosexual Agenda" was to make homosexuality seem normal to the average American. The key way they plan to do this is through the media.

I guess that's why we see so many mainstream romance movies involving gay couples, produced at large Hollywood studios...oh wait, we dont!

Why not make it simple and say:
"We are racist, nationalistic, racist, bigiots who will kill everyone who doesnt agree with us...Civil liberties be damned!"

And as for Religious Liberties...what do we have other than free to bleieve as we choose?

Reminds me of a little sign I saw on the roadside It was stick and corrugated plastic, obviously done up by the local FastSigns. It read:

Fox Radio 1120 AM
Vote For Change!

I laughed my ass off. Change? Fox? WTF? Oh yeah, people are more proactive if they think they're the minority. Funny how 90% or more of the US claims to be Christian, yet they keep blowing their horns about being a persecuted minority.

I just think they're jealous of the Jews.

Wow. Holy shit.

Yes, I agree that this site is despicable. If you really want to see something bad check out the link that says:
"It's comming back! The Bible in Schools" (Hopefully they'll never get away with this.)

http://www.bibleinschools.net/sdm.asp

I mean, seriously, its ok to have an elective. But to truely respect our first amendment rights it would have to be a comparative religion class. Christianity, Islam, Hindu, and yes, even arguments for and against atheism and secular humanism would have to be discussed.

Now, let's talk about how warped James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family (family.org) is. In a memo in 2002 about how Dads can help keep their sons from becoming gay, he said, and I quote, and I am not making this up, and I cannot believe he really said it but it was checked out and is from a newsletter he issued, ... ready? Sure? Better be sitting down:

James Dobson: "He can even take his son with him into the shower, where the boy cannot help but notice that Dad has a penis, just like his, only bigger."

WTF?

Are you freaking serious?!?!? I think there are laws against that. Is there a source on this?

Working on it. The cite is from a Max Blumenthal article that I ran across at alternet.org. I haven't been able to find reference to the newsletter on family.org, but it's probably not gonna be there anyway. Feels weird searching the "Focus on the Family" site for the word "penis"... I wonder if they're tracking my IP?

I guess without a note to Blumenthal about the origin of the newsletter (maybe he's seen a copy... you'd think he'd check something like that, but nowadays, who knows?), it would be hard to validate, but the sick thing is that I could easily hear him say that. Have you ever heard this guy, especially on his Sunday morning show? More hatred than I can stomach.

Sorry, Ten. . .don't mean to show you up, but a quick Google search for "Focus on the Family penis" brought me pretty much right to it.

Here it is in all its glory. (http://www.family.org/docstudy/newsletters/a0021043.cfm)

Fucking sickos.

Thanks, GH...

I feel like Gandalf running from the crumbling ledge, gaining, then losing ground, afraid my next step will send me hurtling into an abyss of insanity. Keeping all my screws tight sure is taking more concentration than usual, thanks to Dr. Dobson and the Left Behind Club.

I was going to post this last week but I couldn't decide on how to frame it. Be sure to check out
Helping Boys Become Men, and Girls Become Women (http://www.focusonyourchild.com/develop/art1/A0000684.html).

You might be gay and have no idea! I know I have "A strong preference to spend time in the company of girls," so I'm probably gay. Dammit, and I have the crappiest furniture of anyone I know.
