I was watching Jeopardy! tonight, and the Final Jeopardy! category was "Science News". The clue was: "In 2000, President Clinton called this 'the most important map ever devised.'"
The answer was: "The Human Genome Project."
As I watched this, I felt sad. I felt nostaligic. Don't get me wrong, I was no great admirer of Bill Clinton, but at least then, we had a President who understood and appreciated the importance of scientific discovery. Not like now, where we have a President who panders to his Jesus-Freak base by suggesting that schools teach pseudo-scientific "Intelligent Design" in science classrooms.
