Is the concept of a 'Chosen People' obnoxious? It used to piss me off but now I just think it's just funny. This frigging planet is crawling with people who think God Almighty fingered them as something 'special.' Judaism, the Supersessionism of Xianity (with specific, ultra-chosen people such as Mormons or Calvinists), Moonies, some Muslims, some Hindus, etc etc etc. -- are all 'special.' (I agree, and I think we should have an x-psychotic Special Olympics for the whole fucking shebang every year).

If God exists, what an asshole for 'choosing' some people over others.
If God doesn't exist, what assholes people are for assuming superiority. It reminds me of one of the many 'special' peoples singled out for excellence: Aryans.

My Jewish friends contend that it is not great to be "Chosen". It means you must be teachers androle models for people to look up to and want to emulate and, at the same time, that people will rather immolate you than emulate you. I would pray to God not to make me a Jew, the price is too high.
