Heeere's Jonesy! 04-14-2012 10:37 AM

A Loose Thread

Let me preface my very first thread by stating that it's a pleasure to be here! All too often have I felt the need to brush my atheistic views under a rug while I sit solemnly wishing that I belonged to a world where people were more inventive about their imaginary friends.

Well, onto the main topic!

My alabaster, blonde self has the rather unfortunate tendancy of being attracted to Middle Eastern men. No, I'm not talking about the stereotypical chauvenistic hairy bastards with their beards matching the size of their ignorance. I prefer those who are rather clean-shaven, small yet highly sculpted with piercing eyes the color of burning embers. Mmmm, that's quite the image, is it not?

Unfortunately these gents are a bit of a rare breed. Rarer still are those who accept any ideas outside those of jolly old Islam. I've recently had the opportunity of dating one who matches the physical profile yet still clings desperately to the ideas of the القرآن الكريم

And yet, I feel as if this particular individual might be something of a 'loose thread' in the world of Islam. I've already used my wicked yet (believe it or not) unwitting powers of seduction to break his 'no sex before marriage' campaign. Yesterday I even saw a look of doubt sweep across his brow when I confronted him with the question, "Just how merciful is Allah?"

So tell me, dear friends. Might I have a chance of breaking his delusion? Is there hope of tearing him away from that toxic umbilical cord that attaches him to religion?

I hope the answer is yes. I don't imagine I'm alone in saying that there is nothing sexier than a tall, dark, and incredibly handsome man. A man with a mind that is free and logical yet simultaneously creative.

Welcome to the forum, Jonesy.

I'm not very good at offering the kind of advice you're seeking, but I'm curious to know why you would even want to pursue that kind of relationship with somebody so conflicted? It seems to me that if anything goes wrong, your friend is going to blame you for it.

I vote that you meet half way and both become Shakers...or really any faith that demands abstinence.

Jonesy, you cannot find a pretty man and make him an atheist. Rather, you need to find a man who is an atheist, and perhaps killer smart and side splittingly funny.....(OK, maybe some of MY preferences have snuck in here). Anyway, it's not always the outside of the package that's important.

I prefer the not too pretty anyways- the pretty ones spend too much time admiring themselves :D

Stargazer 04-14-2012 02:36 PM

True. I rate high intelligence and a devilish sense of humor at the top of the list....
Way harder to resist.

Welcome aboard - allow me to offer a few words of wisdom on your dilemma.
Strap an elasticated semtex belt round his ol' fella and ask if he's interested in suicide wanking. That'll tell you where his affections really lie.

Kate 04-14-2012 06:52 PM

And take pictures. Pictures are good.

Smellyoldgit 04-14-2012 06:54 PM

I refuse to google 'suicide wanker' :o

Kate 04-14-2012 06:56 PM

No no no. I want a picture of the vest on his ol' fella.

Hey, Jonesy, are you sure it's not det cord attaching him to religion?

Mmmm, that's quite the image, is it not?

:D

Oh, and Jonesy, the religious bit is one piece, his cultural expectations are a whole 'nuther circus. Walk away. Or stay and play for a little bit, but then run.

That's twice in a week in which we've cornered our dear Grammar Nazi. :P
