I'm against taxing churches in general for the reason that part of the deal created by the First Amendment was basically "You churches stay out of politics and we government types won't tax you". The current idea that a church should lose its tax-exempt status if it decides to play politics (a lot of them do that already) is admittedly not the most effective. But taxing all churches would require an amendment to the First Amendment, and then we will be arguing about what is left of the First Amendment, at least as it relates to religion. Can we at least wait until a majority of the justices of the SCOTUS aren't loopy-brained idiots?
