For some reason, this planet makes me feel all good inside. :)

While Earth takes a year to orbit the sun, the newly found planet whips around its star once every 4.5 days.

Man, that planet is so extreme. It probably drinks Mountain Dew.

Well they simply need filler for the news story, but Hydrogen and Helium both are lighter than water(H20) so one could reasonably conclude that they would 'float' on water; though they would more likely simply float off...

Analysis of the absorption and emission spectra of the planet and star will yield the constituents of the planet (and the star), which gives some of the information. Once the density is determined, the result is a specific gravity less than one. Done. Ain't science wunnerful? I really do hope it has a large, protruding, permanent "red spot". Then I can wank to the sky.

Astronomers can measure a planet's mass by measuring a periodic Doppler shift in light emitted from the planet's star. They measure its radius by looking at a periodic change in the planet's star's brightness, which decreases as the planet passes between it and us. Once these two properties are known, the planet's density can be calculated.

Chances are the planet would probably dissipate into the atmosphere of the planet that the water was on.
