Gawddam statistics! - no doubt some rabble will come up with a counter survey to demonstrate the exact opposite.
It does look like a tiny step in the right direction, but Murrika is so geographically huge, so culturally, intellectually and economically diverse, that I doubt the whole place will suddenly 'turn'. Small, localised, time consuming shifts is where my wager lies.

It seems like the woo-woo is often what replaces the religion. But I do think it's a good step forward... even if it's a baby step.

Always question all authorities because the authority you don't question is the most dangerous... except me, never question me.

Things lookin' up? - but we're gonna have to tolerate the bullshit a few more years unless the old farts speed up on the dying out.

A growing tide of young Americans is drifting away from the religions of their childhood — and most of them are ending up in no religion at all. One in four young adults choose “unaffiliated” when asked about their religion, according to a new report from the Public Religion Research Institute and Georgetown University’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace & World Affairs.

I’m no regular fan of the Telegraph, but this piece has a few heartening chunks, written following the left-of-centre party’s conference this week. I’ll pull out a few morsels just to really piss off you poor Merkins.

Quote:
over the past three decades Britain has been losing its religion at a precipitous rate
Quote:

There was almost no comment, let alone fuss, about the section of the Labour leader’s speech where he proclaimed that he had no religion

Today religion has become, if anything, a handicap to those governing modern Britain.

Tony Blair judged it best to keep quiet about his faith.

the collapse of Christian worship.

Pews have been emptying at the rate of 1,500 souls per Sunday

churches have been turning into pubs almost as fast as pubs have been closing

Deconsecrated churches now stand all over the country

Regular church-going is as odd, now, as atheism once was.

Half of those brought up in a religion say they have abandoned it

progress means becoming more secular and in tune with the modern world

Americans are used to football players thanking God when interviewed after a touchdown, but the BBC commentators seemed stunned into silence when athletes started to pray at the starting line, or after victory

Perhaps we’ll have to export a few Limeys to get you fuckers back on the right track.
