How much are you paying for this years pantomime?
Have election budgets been affected by the recession?
Are large donations taxable?

I'm still loving the fact that the USA STILL deludes itself into thinking it is a democracy when it is in fact a republic *sigh*
and as for guns etc- don't worry- the rest of the world will just build a wall around you and leave you to it if you elect Romney and his idiotic minions

We delude ourselves from school, apparently, it's OK in school to teach kids that we live in a democracy instead of a Republic where a few representatives leaders are democratically elected. I blame the educational system and the 24/7 shit shower that comes from Fox News and other "news" stations, but mostly Fox News. So we not only indoctrinate our kids with religion, but with a faulty history and understanding of our own fucking country. Apparently, it's all good so long as the kids grow up ignorant of reality. That's why we keep saying that America is the best country ever of all time, because if the USA was actually as it was taught (up until college), then it would be the greatest country in the world. Whatever, I guess I'm done ranting.

Fuck the recession. This year's presidential campaigns have broken all the records again.
Maybe it has something to do with allowing corporations to donate unlimited amounts anonymously? Nah, that can't be it.

Has the coverage of the storm actually effected anything at all regarding the campaigns of either party? Some news of Obama having picked up some ground through it in the news over here. Suppose we will find out soon enough.

How represented do you find yourself in the UK? Wasn't the US system set up by puritan ex pats from these shores anyway? The fact is the west on a whole , from the EU, to Parliament to the White House love to exclaim democracy, depite offering nothing of the sort.

I have not been happy or satisfied w/ Obama's overall performance as president, however, I think Romney is a much, much worse choice. I think Romney will set us back 50 years socially, but if he gets elected, I suppose we will deserve it. But at this point, I just want it over with. I am becoming numb to caring.
Unless we can end disproportionate campaign financing by wealthy individuals and corporations---which definitely won't happen with Romney--and get rid of the 'corporations as people' non-sense, democracy in this country is doomed. The middle class is getting poorer everyday, so in the future I imagine very little campaign money will come from the populace. It may be that it's already too late for democracy, but I keep hoping.

I am hoping that the reality of our system is that it is too complex for such a scenario, though as I've already stated I fear this.

So why can't our citizenry get our heads out of our asses?
Depressing.
This poll must be a lie, since (according to Faux News) Obama has ruined out international standing and is hated by all other countries, and has thus failed diplomatically.

I don't find myself well-represented at all here in the UK and yes your history lesson is correct and no that's not the object of my comment *sigh*
I love - er - hate - er love it when someone points out the obvious and does a 'but yours is just the same!' post *double sigh*

Anytime a sitting president fulfills his job competently in a time of crisis (which Obama appears to be doing right now) he looks more presidential, and his approval rating goes up.
Hurricane Sandy came at an opportune time for Obama. A natural disaster that he can't be blamed for (although I wouldn't be surprised if Faux News tries), to which he needs to react better than Bush did to Katrina (not very hard), and he looks like a leader.

They need to make up their minds. I usually hear that he is very popular with foreign nations, because he bends over backwards for them, and does what they want, to the detriment of the American people, of course.
