Flying Spaghetti Monster

I'm Dave. I get bored at work so I join forums and I like this one. I'm not religious but I can't say I'm an athiest either, I'm too apathetic. What I can say is that I enjoy reading the posts.
I live in the middle of Holmes County Ohio and if you do an internet search, you'll find that it's the home to the largest group of Amish people. I am surrounded by these people and other "believers" 24/7 and it is very depressing. Everyone here thanks god for everything. It's really self-defeating. Why do anything if god will make it better? I think "believing" is an excuse for laziness and ignorance.

People who want to share their religious views with you never want you to share yours with them.

Greetings. I suspect you are already one of us unwashed heathen atheist bastards, but your apathy is preventing you from realising it. If you're not an atheist, what do you think you believe in?

If you can't say you're the athiest, are you at least athier than most?

Professor,
I was a raging atheist in high school, so it's not so much that I refuse or can't out of fear blah blah blah. I've just reached a point in my life where I don't feel the need to say it, not that I'm "above" it or anything. But here, yea...consider me a full blown atheist.

Kinich,
Where I live, what you do (or don't do) somehow becomes everyone's business, a quality that I despise in this town. So everyone in my neighborhood knows I'm a heathen.

Welcome. Labels are irrelevent really I suppose. But non believers are atheists, so the cap does fit etc. May you be blessed with an extra 4 inches due to your acceptance of the "atheist religion". (ps I know atheism is not a religion).

I'm curious ILJ. Were you an atheist when you joined the forum?

Yes and still going strong. I do have Pantheist leanings that can cause a bit of a aquabble, but I do not believe in gods, superstitions or magic etc, though have only been free for a short time comparitive to how long I believed in "something".

welcome to our humble forum, dog.

One of the most irrational of all the conventions of modern society is the one to the effect that religious opinions should be respected....That they should have this immunity is an outrage. There is nothing in religious ideas, as a class, to lift them above other ideas. On the contrary, they are always dubious and often quite silly.

Thank you Eva. I'm not much of a poster, but I do love reading these forums. Some of you people really make my day that much better.
