I just watched this video about an Islam guy trying to convince atheists that the quran is true. It's funny that even though I don't accept it, the religion seems to make even more sense then Christianity. What do you guys think?

I'm with you there. Yup, it's far more persuasive than christianity. But that's like saying that King Kong seems more possible to exist than Godzilla. They're both still absurd.

I know that was my point. I wonder if I could find a video about these guys directing their views towards Christians. In other words what are their opinions on Christianity?

Anyone want to send this guy a rebuttal? My guess is that Mohammed gleaned his knowledge of astronomy not from god but from Aryabhata.

I'm sick of the question "How do you think the universe began?" coming from a monotheist. I've never been asked this question direclty but its common in religious propoganda. They always ask it to people too dumb to have the confidence to say "I don't know". I can't wait to get asked this question myself one day. Throw it back in their face. "The universe was never created. It is eternal! See? I don't need your rediculous god to answer this question."

It's funny, since when he asked the question "If you had a new technology that nobody's seen before, who is the first person who could tell you how it works?", my answer would've been "an engineer", not the original inventor, since my assumption was that a piece of technology that nobody's seen before wouldn't have an inventor! :D

I'm not convinced that none of those ideas the speaker brought up were present in the Qu'ran first. For instance, he states that it was only recently shown that the Earth is round. However, this fact was known even to the ancient Greeks (who noticed that when a ship approaches from the horizon, you see the mast first).

Incidentally, the ancient Greeks also had theories of the atomic composition of matter (Democritus) and evolution (Anaximander). So why aren't the Greeks credited for modern scientific discoveries? Because the empirical evidence for these was only discovered within the last 200 years. Basically, the ancient Greeks made philosophical arguments and happened to get lucky. The same can be said for many of the Qu'ran verses that "first revealed scientific truths".

Enough said.
