The frightening part is how logical that would sound to someone who didn’t know better.

You mentioned what kids will believe. Here is a conversation I witnessed yesterday. There was a camp group there about to tour the kitchen at the restaurant where I was having lunch and the kids (ages 10-12) were standing in line.

Child 1: (grabbing his nose) I wonder why our noses evolved this way?
Child 2: What are you talking about?
Child 1: Well why don't we just have holes in our face?
Child 2: (tone of great contempt) We DIDN'T evolve! God Made Us!
(long pause)
Child 1: What ever dude.
