If the Education Commissioner is intellectually honest, and wants a comparitively easy way out, she needs to answer along the lines of "There is no scientific evidence of creationism or ID, therefore it can't be taught in science class".

No they appear to be the sign of a retard. However, I have only really seen them on pacific northwest grunge teens (the ones with the idiotic devil beards and serious identity problems). Nevertheless they do seem pretty pointless to me. It's like goatse on your face.
