The link wouldn't load for me so I will just take a stab in the dark.
Personally I think religion should be challenged if it is in the public domain. If they pray at home then fine. If they stand in the middle of a shopping centre, highway or whatever then we have a right to challenge them. Unless you can't be arsed, then general mockery or soft/liquid projectiles are also acceptable.

Hmm, an interesting puzzle. The folk 'blessing' the highway, apart from making themselves look retarded and irritating the shit out of a few sane folk, were causing no real harm, so perhaps we should leave them alone to continue their retardedness. On the other hand, if this type of bollocks isn't challenged, it ain't going away. Me? I'd join the piss-taking fun but with the insistance that the unholy water was provided via the kidneys with a strong drambuie flavour to rot the tasrmac.

No, I don't think so. Theists find it necessary to use ritual and symbolism to reaffirm the more intangible elements of their religion (like, ummmm, god???), whereas atheists have no need for such things.

Australia must have a LOT of spiders. Not to mention a lot of extra water right now!

Many moons ago, I remember shitting myself when a huntsman crawled across my mate's wife's 36C bra on the shower room floor (it was more than a handful). I felt such a twat when their 5 year old daughter picked the fucking thing up and lobbed it onto a tree in the yard.

Oh, was that what we were talking about? Thanks for reminding me.
I don't see the problem, though. Aren't most men aware that women wear bras?

Cool, just shows that we learn to fear spiders (mmm, reminds me of something else). I have 2 or 3 huntsmen in my house at any one time and usually let them roam about, freaks out the odd visitor from time to time but they do a great job cleaning up the other spiders in the house.
Those pictures of the flood spiders are awesome. The spiders are using a two fold survival strategy, apart from making webs up high and dry they are doing something called ballooning. I've seen it a few times myself when the skies are filled with drifting webs. This is from another article:
"One way spiders can move around is by what they call ballooning, so they let out lengths of silk in the hope that the wind will catch them and carry them away to another place," he said.
"But if there's not enough wind around, what happens is they don't get very far and they all end up in the same place. They'll keep trying and that's why you'll get all that silk."

Wait, I missed something. Is a huntsman a kind of spider? Sorry, Smelly, that kind of changes the way I pictured your story.
