Good plan. Perhaps they should do something similar with their brains - once they see sense, they can have it back.

I think they do that when they have notice, like a pregnancy.
Never fear, inevitably we shall have our years of failure, and when they arrive, we must reveal tolerance and sanity. That has been the philosophy of the Rangers since the days of the gallant pioneers.

Oh, I really have no idea, I knew some JW's, but they never wanted to talk to me about their beliefs.
Always question all authorities because the authority you don't question is the most dangerous... except me, never question me.

Back in the 80's, I left dozens of 'Give Blood' flyers on cars at a JW convention.
None of them said a lot to me.

How impolite.
They should have given you some.

As a former JW, their (ahem) "logic" lies thusly. Paul said that abstaining from eating blood was part of the Mosaic law code that still applied to Christians. And if you wouldn't eat something orally then you wouldn't consume it intravenously either. So they wouldn't even store their own blood, as that would still constitute "eating". The organization is nice enough to allow to use recirculation equipment for things like heart surgery. Not that that makes a lick of sense. A rabbi once said their take on the matter is illogical in a life or death situation because the original commandment not to eat blood was to teach respect for the life it carried. Therefore letting someone die broke the commandment anyhow. Which brings us back to The moral relativism thing. The religious perceived "pitfall" is a non-starter. The only apparent option to a relativist position is pure theocracy. But since the deity refuses to come down and command the masses directly (because he's imaginary), as in Iran, you're stuck with the interpretation of a man or group of men, and their relative interpretation of God's will and the Holy Book. BTW, the governing body of JW's actually see themselves as the earthly representatives of the soon to come worldwide theocracy, which will make short work of heathens like us. ; )

don't they all- and they are generally all men - amazing (not) that their gods always state what the men themselves find important

Judge overrules parents to save life of young South Australian girl
Quote:
DOCTORS have made an urgent plea to the Supreme Court to help save the life of a Jehovah's Witness girl dying of leukaemia.
On Friday, Justice Richard White ordered the girl, 4, receive treatment, including a blood transfusion to which her parents had objected on religious grounds.
Paediatric oncologist Dr Petra Ritchie said without treatment the girl "will die ... I would say in weeks".
Dr Ritchie said that the girl, who was diagnosed with cancer of the blood and bone marrow on Monday, had a 90 per cent chance of survival if she received treatment immediately.
Doctors had this week advised she needed a potentially life-saving blood transfusion - but her parents had objected on religious grounds.
The parents' opposition prompted the hospital to petition the court saying that, without treatment, the girl would die in a matter of weeks.
