I'm on my old hometown computer which has less processing power than a theist on marmalade, so I'm wondering if you guys are willing to help out. I'm looking for something fairly specific, but the limitations of my current computer won't allow me to do it myself right now. I'm looking for videos of people asking for community help following abduction/missing persons/homicides, ect (you know the ones with the crying parents begging for community support in finding their childre, the person who did it, for the person who did it to let them go, ect). That should be fairly simple, but there's a catch: I need to know if the person giving the statement was found guilty, or whether someone else was eventually brought up on charges for that specific crime. We're basically trying to look at what we call 'emotional liars'.

Let me know if anu of you find anything.

A quick search only turned up penguins, not people:

"The kidnapping lasts for a few hours or a week at most," said Olivier Chastel, a biologist at the French National Center for Scientific Research in Villiers en Bois.

After this time the seemingly distraught parent loses interest and abandons her stolen baby.

But I'll keep looking. ;)

Any names you may have for existing, known vids? Susan Smith, Andrea Yates, that kind of thing?

We're not looking for anyone in particular (in fact, it might be better if people could recognize them, but we'll worry about that later). Just emotional liars (and genuine plees for help) on video in general.

edit: But you've got the right idea.

why don't you just get some volunteers and randomly give them instructions to lie or tell the truth about something personal while you film it?

You can always turn tricks for a few extra bucks. If looks are an issue, there's the glory hole option, but don't expect more than ... tips.

a) We plan to, but later
b) It's cheaper, easier, and more valid to get the video this way then to have people whine about how they took the last cookie in the jar (most of our grants end this year, and are currently up for renewal)
