Who Is The Raving Atheist And What Happened To Him?
I keep reading about "The Raving Atheist." Silly me, I always assumed that it was the title of this website and forum in general, but I just realized that you guys are referring to a individual person. I sort of noticed this cruising through the PZ Myers thread and read about him going crazy about abortion or something like that. Anyone care to explain?

This forum is now independent, but originally it was linked to The Raving Atheist blog. The Raving Atheist gave up blogging a while ago, but he used to blog daily (" The Daily Rave"). Yes, I think that there is a general consensus around these parts that some craziness got the better of him (his latter posts were just weird). And his hardline anti-abortion stance had already alienated a great deal of his readership.
But back in the day when The Raving Atheist was on top form, his take-no-theistic-shit attitude was remarkable, and it was this that attracted people here in the first place, and (before the forum existed) the comments facility on his blog was a place of lively discussion.
The forums were originally set up, by Chris, for use by visitors to his blog. He has never posted on the forums (except when, thanks to the initiative of people at the forum, an atheist celeb has been visiting here).
This place used to be www.ravingatheist.com/forum
Now it has an independent domain name.

Their winning plays are salvations of an aliveness of which they are a part.
Only a fraction of genes are selfish/parasitic (and they parasitize teams).

I think he decided that being anti-abortion (or as he'd no doubt prefer "pro-life") was more important than his atheism. His choice, I suppose. If I thought that a blastocyst was a precious human life I might feel the same.
There was also a bit of weirdness where he promised to not gratuitously offend theists (well, OK, I guess, sort of) but since almost any statement of atheism will offend some theist or other he then interpreted this as being no longer able to make any kind of argument for atheism (WTF??). Then he pretty much stopped blogging unless he's started up an anti-abortion blog under a different name or something.

Strange, what was his reasoning for being Pro-Life? I'm more interested in his thought process than his conclusion.

The RA was anti-abortion because he bought into the "potential life" argument. He became "theist friendly" for personal reasons.

Some of us thought so. Of course it would be un-atheistic to speculate without evidence. Or something.

So, he's moved over to the Dark Side completely now, it seems.

I didn't get that from his post. It looks to me like the same wishy-washy ambiguous unreadable douchebaggery as before. (No offense, RA.)
Though he did add a "Prayer of the Day" over on the right.

It sounded to me like a Bill O'Reilly preamble, where he tries to paint the religion reporter in the most negative light before starting.
It sounded very disparaging towards atheists (and, of course, his logical reasoning was suspect, at best, which convinces me even more he's full-on Christian).
