This was the favorite Roman punishment Cut criminals heads off and IMPALE them. This will serve as an example to ALL since the FACE of the person is SHOWN to all!.
One of the problems, as Carotta pointed out, is in language mutation and interpretation over time.
The Latin word for burn is Cremo. In Spanish or Italian to burn is Cremar-e. In Greek Kremo means to impale.
It is easy to see why when one could confused Caesar been burned and his wax image been "impaled" on a tropaeum, be confused with torture by crucifixion. ( tropaeum -crux)
I am certain that during the Spartacus rebellion, the rebels were IMPALED. no crucified.
Christians and other folks infected with delusional beliefs think and reason like schizophrenics or temporal lobe epileptics. Their morality is dictated by an invisible friend called Jesus.

I heard a rumor that they are bringing this back. Has anyone else heard? What a great show it was. I really miss it.

I just watched a couple episodes of it on DVD last night. It is a fantastic program. I'd love to see more of it.

I always thought it was canceled due to the writers strike, but apparently the cost of the show was prohibitive. Now, apparently, they are planning to finish it off with a movie. It will be awesome if the do it.

It was the cost of making it that doomed it, according to a number of reports I read. Still, we all know how it ends, so while nice, the movie won't be a revelation. I wish someone had warned me how violent, really violent the thing is. It would have saved me the $50 I spent on the DVDs. Still, some of it was priceless-- the Cleopatra episode was hysterical among other fine moments.

I hope! It is well done! It is refreshing to see such exacting detail put into a movie. I totally love the big dumb guy from the 13th who is always fucking everybody.

HBO was very good production & surprisingly accurate in historical content despite the Christ-psychosis intellectual stench so pervasive in our society today.
Las month there was a History Channel presentation about Death masks images of our presidents & their origin. I was surprise to see the scholar Carotta explaining their Roman origin & that a FULL body wax imago of the God Caesar Christ was made for his elaborate funeral. This was Historically accurate.
I learn he had advised the producers ( no doubt ignorant dummy Christians) of this video, but he was upset, as I was, that they had depicted the wax image of Caesar without having the arms EXTENDED. This CROSS ( Tropaion) symbolize victory & was the origin of the Christian crucifix.
In due time the retarded Christ-psychosis infected ignoramus will LEARN the identity of the God they have been worshiping all of this time enrichingthe coffers of the GREAT deceivers of all time, The Catholic Church....poor old maid retarded Lily has paid for many of the golden utensil the Priest have used to wash off the smegma from the uncircumcised DICKS of young KIDS. This stupid senile woman never cease to amaze me with her neurological turpitude. She thinks this is the 12th Century
