The craziest CL group stage ever. Bayern and Liverpool are almost out, while the village (population 17 thousand) team are still in it! How have they managed to fill the stadium?
Just to revisit this post again: thanks to Bordeaux, who beat Juventus, Bayern now hold destiny in their own hands. All they need to do (easier said than done) is beat Juventus in Turin, and they are through to the knockout stages.

When the fuck did they come up with the rule that the host is seeded? Were Japan and South Korea seeded in 2002?

It's a joke when the lowest-ranked team in the entire tournament is seeded alongside the actual powers.
Our oriental friends were indeed seeded in 2002.
The aim is to keep the hosts involved for as long as possible to pull in the crowds - hence shekels.
Worked for me in 1966!

Damn it! I recorded the game, and haven't watched it yet, and made the mistake of reading the Football Thread.

Oh well, no worries, at least it was good news.

1-4, huh? Excellent!

Finally watched it. What a game!

Not only did they win, but they came back from being down 1-0, in Turin.

They're really starting to play better now, maybe this is the big turning point.

Just saw this on Bundesliga site:

Incredibly, it was the third time that Butt had scored against Juventus, having also scored against them while playing for Leverkusen and Hamburg.
Crazy.

Apparently, the players, not the coach, called him forward to take the penalty. It was very well taken, I must say.

Shit - I hadn't realised this Butt was a damn goalie! - but I laughed at reading of the 2004 fiasco against Schalke!
