It will be a telling point of the evangelicals' commitment and cooperation if they issue a refutation of the idea that the Earth itself is young and has less than 50 years of existence left. Long-term solutions which demand long-term effort cannot be credibly approached if the horizon is "within the lifetime of some of the currently active people".
One, admittedly preliminary, study says that an all-out effort, to the exclusion of all else, "could" bring CO2 levels to a steady (though still very high) level in a decade or so. To bring just CO2 down to pre-global-warming levels would require at least a century and still would do nothing about the other "greenhouse" gasses.
I hope that these evangelicals do not believe that "the world is ending tomorrow so why have decade-long projects?".
