Not us Brits- we hang on to the OLD ways- Europe may think we toe the line but they should try shopping for a kilo of sprouts at the market on a Saturday morning

dudes, he's just saving us the trouble, and posing them here himself.
One of the most irrational of all the conventions of modern society is the one to the effect that religious opinions should be respected....That they should have this immunity is an outrage. There is nothing in religious ideas, as a class, to lift them above other ideas. On the contrary, they are always dubious and often quite silly.

Yeah, but he's also misquoting or misattributing quotes to long-dead atheists. If he didn't completely invent them of his own accord, he, no doubt, culled them from dubious sources.
Who the hell can vouch for what Voltaire or Sir Walter Scott may or may not have said on their deathbeds?

The expression (idiom) here seems longer than a city mile (10 "blocks").

With sprouts the difference is clear since a kilo of sprouts is massive compared to a weighty pound of sprouts.

At least, thankfully, he did not include the horrid lies about the "deathbed conversions" of Einstein and Darwin.

A "city block", based on the plan of New York (the) City, is 1/10 mile on a side.
In Time's Square, for over twenty years, a large billboard with a cigarette ad actually blew huge smoke rings out over the street. That has been said, was the origin of the slogan "I'd walk a mile for a Camel".

Well, duh! A country mile in the USA has you dodging banjo-playing, gunslingers, who want you to squeal like a pig.
