Anybody enjoy Time Bandits? This three minute promo/trailer is funny enough to be worth watching.

Heinlein was one of the best for sure, but his later books started to creep me out a bit. Too much sexual fiction (old-man-shags-young-chicks for free) and not enough science fiction.
It's been thirty years or so since I read his stuff, but yes, I agree. He seemed to get weirdly fixated on 'Love' (capital L), as only an old man or a teenage girl can do. The singular importance of experiencing True Love. The profound breadth and depth of human Love. The inconsolable pain of lost Love. Love, love, love, love. It became more than a little distracting, if I remember correctly.

What in the fuck is wrong with you fucking people? What a bunch of howling Philistines you all are.
PS I've read all of Heinleins's shit. He's one of the all-time best. Anybody read any Larry Niven - the Ring World books? Not time travely, but good shit.
Niven did write an interesting series of short stories in his early years about someone commissioned to time travel to bring back extinct species, (such as a horse), but winding up slipping into alternate realities as well and he winds up bringing back mythical species. The horse he thinks he's taking back is really a unicorn, for example.

At my time in life, the former is the main stock of the latter.

Time Bandits is stupendous. As usual Connery steals the whole damned show, just as he did in "Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves".

Good ol' Einstein

The world's most accurate clock has neatly shown how right Albert Einstein was 100 years ago, when he proposed that time is a relative concept and the higher you live above sea level the faster you should age.
Perhaps this explains why my arse remains hairy, whilst the stuff falls ever faster from my dome!

Einstein got his Space Time, relativity theory from falling of a ladder & by watching the clock tower at Bern Switzerland while walking to work cogitating...

He called belief in god childish. This amazing man always made jokes on Christophrenics & their resurrected Zombie bizarre delusions...
A letter that confirms this was sold in London.

Christians and other folks infected with delusional beliefs think and reason like schizophrenics or temporal lobe epileptics. Their morality is dictated by an invisible friend called Jesus.

WWED? – What would Einstein do?

Sheesh, we have to keep buggering about with time – why can’t we just let things run their course and get rid of clocks altogether?

Changes to the world's time scale debated
This week, scientists at the Royal Society are discussing whether we need to come up with a new definition of the world's time scale: Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
And the main issue up for debate is the leap second - and whether we should abolish it.
The leap second came into existence in 1972. It is added to keep the time-scale based on atomic clocks in phase with the time-scale that is based on the Earth's rotation.
I reckon we should adopt the standard UK Morning Glory scale of measurement. Works like clockwork for me.

Next weekend (most) Merkins will set the clocks back an hour so that "Daylight Savings Time" can hibernate until spring, when it emerges again from it's tomb and if it sees it's shadow, then there's six more months of demented fuckwittery. (UK does not use European Summer Time ?)

Did you know that DST was instituted during the Great War so that Merkins could divert the saved energy to the pushing and the shoving "over there"? (Anyway that's the story they're giong with. I think what really happened is that Woodrow Wilson thought that if they set their clocks ahead one hour it was the same as going into the future and that would give the Yanks a leg up on Jerry.)

"Woodrow." Who names a child "Woodrow" ?
