My computer is up an running again (due to an ingenious idea of my roommate that actually worked), and as of yet our house is dry (but the water's close :/). We just have to watch the rain we're supposed to get over the next three days, but I think we'll be fine (though I can't say the same for my poor neighbors). We cataloged the entire rise of the river over the weekend, but I'll just post a few photos I took yesterday and last night that I shot with my crummy little camera (my roommates a professional photographer, so when he's done editing his shots I'll grab a couple and post those as well).

Here's a shot from my front yard.

Here's a shot from the back of our driveway.

Here's the park that is down the hill from my house. The water froze overnigt, and you can see a pop-bottle frozen in place.

Here's a marker commemorating the building of the dike that protects our street, sitting at around river-depth 37.5 ft. As you can see, the marker is surrounded by water, but still dry. :P

One more, from the street in front of my house around sunset.

Enjoy!

You really do need a canoe huh? Or a pirate ship!

So far so good, Rhinoq! Here's to hoping there's no more rain for a long while!

Cute house!

It's a damn shame you're not a hippo, rhino.

Healthy genes act as team-players. They are teamish!
Their winning plays are
salvations of an aliveness of which they are a part.
Only a fraction of genes are selfish/parasitic (and they
parasitize teams).

Rhino, have you been having impure thoughts about sodomy? We all know god is punishing you for something, we just don't know what.

You can always turn tricks for a few extra bucks. If looks are an issue, there's the glory hole option, but don't expect more than ... tips.

Thanks a lot for the photos!! Rhino. The last one with the reflections is exhibit material.....:)

Christians and other folks infected with delusional beliefs think and reason like schizophrenics or temporal lobe epileptics. Their morality is dictated by an invisible friend called Jesus.

I think this is truly a sign. You must now begin gathering two of each animal that walks the Earth. Hope you have a big canoe.

To pray is to verbalize that which some may have difficulty saying aloud in everyday life, in an effort to gain support or smarts from an outside source. I have no need for prayer. I am able to rationalize within my mind, and have no problem speaking it.

holy mother of crap, rhino! that is a lot of water!

maybe you have not been praying hard enough...or maybe your theist neighbors prayed for that rain to happen...

the ways of the lord are mysterious....

One of the most irrational of all the conventions of modern society is the one to the effect that religious opinions should be respected....That they should have this immunity is an outrage. There is nothing in religious ideas, as a class, to lift them above other ideas. On the contrary, they are always dubious and often quite silly.

That last photo is a gem! But, I guess accidents will happen...:D Try and keep dry, fella. How deep does the snow get in your area in the winter? My parents moved from Minnesota when I was three. That winter had 38 cumulative feet of snow, and my dad just said "enuff" and went to sunny Cal. I have about four memories of the place (Minneapolis), and they have no relation to outdoors, even.
