Curiously enough, I shall be in New York from the 21st-26th March, then I have a few days before I fly back out of Vancouver on the 31st.

Not that this really means anything for me actually going to the reason rally, I just like that I could've gone if I was more organised.

I read somewhere that the Westboro Baptists are going to picket the event, that should be fun.

I've been looking at the website for the rally for the past 2 weeks and sulking because I can't make it. The fact that Eddie Izzard will be there on top of all the other cool folks just makes it worse. *sigh* I thought about organizing something similar on a way smaller scale at our local college, but you guys can imagine how well that went over in Tennessee.

One of the most irrational of all the conventions of modern society is the one to the effect that religious opinions should be respected....That they should have this immunity is an outrage. There is nothing in religious ideas, as a class, to lift them above other ideas. On the contrary, they are always dubious and often quite silly.

Hey, Eva. Hope you have a great time there!

Nah, I'm just kidding, it fucking ROCKED baby!

I will get pictures and comments up later I promise, I just wanted to tag in and catch up and rest a bit first. My personal standouts were Jessica Alquist, Adam Savage, James Randi, fucking Tim Minchin, Nate Phelps (very moving, damn dust mote in my eye), and of course Eddie Izzard. I may have missed one or two but really there wasn't a bad speaker in the rally. If anything it was the pre-taped ones simply because they weren't actually there.

I can't wait to read the media coverage, I haven't seen anything but they announced a faux noise report about the event.

edited to add:

Duh, forgot to mention how fucking cool it was to hang with our goddess Eva again, meet her family, and find a delightful lostsheep. (ran out of smileys dammit!)
