By all means vote for Dr. Ron. That's one of the reasons I risk my life to fight for our freedom to vote our conscience.

You teach in the inner city or something?

Greetings ol' phella, when you find the rules, can you let me know?
.... and missionary is a bit boring - I much prefer the good woman on top or on the kitchen table
Just one woman? Seriously? What is wrong with the fuckers of today?

Welcome to the forum, colpat.

What, exactly, is a supernatural? How does it differ from assertions of unexplained magic that are portrayed in fiction?

What is your definition of a spirit? Is it something other than an allegation of unexplained magic?

What is this God you say you worship? I assume that you are not claiming to have ever seen, heard, smelled or physically touched this God you are alleging here. So, apart from having a personal belief in this ostensible thing, how is it objectively knowable?

What I mean is "knowable" in the way we can know and experience, say, disease. For example, I'd prefer to not believe in the existence of cancer, but I don't have that choice, because cancer is objectively real and has observable properties.

What do you think any of us here can observe about an alleged God without specific prompting from a devout believer?

They're not meant to be hostile questions. You know me; I'm not confrontational. I just think it's important that we define our terms, or how else do we know what we're talking about?

As Justin so eloquently points out:-

Quote:
Technically, there really are no Chaplains in foxholes (in the US military.) They are designated ‘non combatants’, are not assigned a weapon, and are not supposed to be on the front lines of a battlefield. If they somehow stumbled into a foxhole, it would cease being a fighting position. It would simply be a hole.

I never quite understood the claim about there being no atheists in foxholes. It sounds like a gross bit of projection to me.

Is religion supposed to be the natural refuge of feeling fearful?

When I'm fearful about impending pain and/or my own mortality, is it a natural reaction for me to imagine that a magic and benevolent white man will protect me from that fate, even if I was not culturally primed to imagine that such a vision had powers to protect me?

I didn't teach in the inner city. The "or something" was as a USAF pilot with hundreds of combat missions. My aircraft was hit only one time. I've flown over USSR. I have close personal friends who were prisoners of war in Hanoi flying the same kind of missions.
