Seems to me that this very broad statement could easily be undermined by starting a religion, and then holding something sacred (like homosexuality) that many people hate. If the Christians can't rage about teh gays, they will see the light in no time.

things strikes me as strange/unenforceable/crazy about this law:
first, what is grossly abusive or insulting.
second: who determines what is held sacred by the "insulted" religion.
third: does it apply to cults?
fifth: who decides what is a cult and what is a religion?
6) what constitutes outrage as per this law?
7) how many is a "substantial of adherents"?
8) does it apply to Joe O'Nobody, over at the pub, making a catholic joke, and Peter O'Fuckme overhears it and tell it to his mom and cousin and they tell it to the priest that tells it to the bishop, and they publish it in their newsletter and all the O'Cathlickers get agry? and a jew for jeebus reads the newsletter and get all O'Juices angry too?

i really don't think anybody will be prosecuted under this law. it is one of those silly ones governments enact somethimes that are meant to make them look "good" to somebody that they wants votes from.

I judge the chance of bullets becoming involved to be greater if the North becomes part of any dispute. Whilst England & Wales recently abolished their blasphemy laws, it remains a crime to blaspheme in Scotland & Northern Ireland - so yes, the possibility of stupidity remains.
