awesome, Matt!

One of the most irrational of all the conventions of modern society is the one to the effect that religious opinions should be respected....That they should have this immunity is an outrage. There is nothing in religious ideas, as a class, to lift them above other ideas. On the contrary, they are always dubious and often quite silly.
H. L. Mencken

I have touched two men and made one smile, I'm all aroused now.

Thanks Ghoulie, don't be afraid to criticise i'm not very delicate and could probably do with some pointers. I quite enjoyed writing it, might have another go when I get some more free time.

Nice Eternal. I like the sentiments very much. I am trying my hand at writing short stories, but it's not going too well at this point ):

There is nothing to criticize! All poetry that comes from the heart is good. You might want to consider spending more time polishing and polishing and polishing, but a good poem starts out with a worthy thought. Everything else is just polish.

Thank you. I did notice that even since posting it there are a few things that I would change.

I know this isn't an atheist poem, but as I have no blog, facefuck or social media in general it's tough shit.

Donít trust love

Love is not a companion
do not treat it with trust
with trust comes complacency
that can push others to lust

After lust comes deceit
of which youíll have no clue
because trust has already
made a fool out of you

Trust must be tempered
with awareness and discern
if you do not learn this
then you will feel loves burn

Take care of the onus
you have to your love
commit to it wholeheartedly
till it fits like a glove

For love does not forgive
if you fail to please
no other known enemy
will crush with such ease

Absorb your fears
your insecurities too
grab love by the balls
and shout FUCK YOU!

Confidence is your ally
spontaneity your friend
keep love on its toes
and it will stay till your end.

Matt.

Some people argue that Love in the romantic sense is a Western world religion....that it doesn't exist.

They are probably right, most things just seem to be concepts we use to categorise and organise. That being said, I am pretty sure that I am in love with boobs.

I can testify that I have paid an ample tithe on this altar, and have found myself on my knees with not much to please, too many times. If there is a clear but elusive truth to the matter, I have yet to find it. (I once thought I found the G spot, but it turned out to be a ladyboy with his wiener tucked.)

Flowers
Weíre dying - thereís no denying.
But why waste our precious hours
On a lot of useless crying,
When we might be smelling flowers!
O for a palette of colors so fair!
O for a touch of artful mastery!
For a steady hand and the heart to dare
Frame joy with such dazzling symmetry!

Flowers, in your many forms, I adore
The sweet essence that fills you to the core,
And blooms from eternityís barren soil!
Though your petals wither and your leaves spoil,
Though blossomed to a short season of shades,
There is much of life your spirit may tell!

O for the wisdom to understand well
Of painting boldly though the canvas fades!

Standing on a Tree Stump

Standing on a tree stump,
With my arms up in the air,
I feel my lifeblood pump,
As if my limbs were everywhere.

Standing like a mighty tree,
With a windy voice I cry.
I feel my roots beneath me,
And my soul up in the sky.

Of Tea

My cup of tea is steeped in deepest lore,
From olden times in lost, exotic lands -
The stuff of ardent scenes since days of yore.
I hold a cup of legend in my hands.
Reposed upon my thoughts as on a throne,
Beneath a tropic jungleís misted light,
In visions of fragrant haze, I am shown
Incense scent from some ancient temple height.
Sweet wisps of Gypsy secrets at my lips,
I recollect the wealth of friendships past,
Dispelled to naught, like vaporizing ships,
ĎCross seas of mystery and romance vast.
With kindred souls I sip, and muse, and dream,
And sail away on wafts of sultry steam.
