Anyways, My name is Cristina. I have been an atheist for about 6 months now and its been great . Its almost like I have been reborn into another world. The only part i don't like is seeing the faces people make when i tell them of my newly found way of life. And since I am the only atheist i know, I dont really have any guidance. And that is why i joined this forum. And yeah thats about it. see you all around

Welcome to the forum, Cristina. I liked your intro because, yes, I definitely was ready to read something along the lines of: "Jesus and I both love you guys and we both fervently pray that you will accept His love, blah, blah, blah."
Ah! But you fooled me. Good job.
And if you're gonna share with theists that you're not a member of their club, get used to the weird looks. It comes with the territory. But also know that you're hardly alone.

Hey Cristina. Congratulations on becoming a Born Again Atheist, so to speak. We're all natural-born atheists, most of us (myself included) are then indoctrinated throughout childhood into one kind of religion/superstition or another, and a lucky few finally manage to break free of the voodoo bullshit.
I hope you enjoy yourself here. There are some really smart folks here with a lot of wisdom and knowledge to impart to a brand new atheist such as yourself. I'm not one of 'em unfortunately , but you'll get to know who they are soon enough.
Once again, congrats on your enlightenment and escape from the dark side.

Welcome, Cristina. Always keep in mind that atheism defines what you are not. It does not define what you are. You must decide how to fill in the spaces where delusional theist fantasy used to be. I suggest secular humanism and as much education as you can grab.

i was going to reply with a snappy "and fuck you too" but it seems like too much now...lol.
welcome to our humble forum, cristina.
One of the most irrational of all the conventions of modern society is the one to the effect that religious opinions should be respected....That they should have this immunity is an outrage. There is nothing in religious ideas, as a class, to lift them above other ideas. On the contrary, they are always dubious and often quite silly.

Welcome, christina!
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you are not the only atheist in California. If you were living in the Bible Belt, it might feel that way. But, the only atheist in Cali, in Cali, in Cali? I don't think so.
