Understood, but where do you draw the line? If all of the local meterologists tell you it's going to rain tomorow, do you take an umbrella with you or do you study the jet stream? When the FDA tells you not to use toothpaste made in China, do you analyze the chemical content or do you buy another brand?

Scientists do the dirty work and present the facts to the public. There's no "faith" involved, IMHO, because the information is there to be analyzed by anyone and, as you suggest, the methods of finding said information and testing it can be learned by anyone.
Prof, I could be stoned, but I think we're saying the same thing.

Hey, I could be stoned! See ya!

I think humans are probably contributing to global warming, but I'm not sure that's the looming catastrophe it's made out to be. If I have a choice between coastlines shifting inland or glaciers razing everything from Santa's Workshop to Philadelphia, I'll take the rising sea level.

When I see a graph that looks like this below, I don't know how anyone can dispute that CO2 in the atmosphere is mostly natural.

http://www.seed.slb.com/en/scictr/wa...on_dioxide.jpg

Global Warming Denier: Well that graph comes from alarmists who don't use good scientific data.

Myself: Yeah right. Bullshit. It's based on 10 independent studies.

And what about this temperature graph?

http://www.globalwarmingart.com/wiki...Comparison_png

Global warming deniers claim that the medieval warming period was large compared to today. Not according to most scientists.

It's happening alright. But most people are to lazy to do anything about it, including me (not proud of it though). Also, with India and China on the brink of an industrial revolution and whatnot, we're doomed.

It takes actions like banning regular light bulbs and so on, to actually mobilise the people. Just blurting out doomsayings in the media won't change anything. I mean , people are probably affected by it, but like I said, they're too lazy.

Not to mention that India and China will give more money to the Saudis/Middle East in general.

This is the kind of response that makes me weary to jump aboard the global warming bandwagon. The temperature of the Earth is raising but to what degree humans are playing in this has yet to be seen. The bottom line seems to be that there is not enough evidence to show that CO2 is the cause. And the solution, if there is one, sure as fuck isn't energy saving light bulbs.

Here is a video on the topic if anybody is interested in it.
