I like Herbie Mann, but he just never seems to kick it up a notch to be really fucking good. It's not like he phones it in, but to me he just feels too restrained for jazz, and too flat to be truly funky.
You can always turn tricks for a few extra bucks. If looks are an issue, there's the glory hole option, but don't expect more than ... tips.

And now for something truly different.
A colleague, just tonight, turned me on this group called the Carolina Chocolate Drops. It ain't jazz, but it's as American as apple pie and chitlins. The woman playing the kazoo (WTF! I know. Right?) is beautiful.

That was a very nice performance. Just imagine how good he'll be when he finally learns how to really play that thing. One of the sweetest sounds in existence is the electric violin in the hands of a genius like that guy.
A thousand years ago, 1969 to be exact, It's a Beautiful Day came out with White Bird and the electric violin squeezed out the electric guitar as my favorite musical instrument. Jean-Luc Ponty is still the king of this kind of beautiful digitized electronic violin music, as far as I'm concerned. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVlTJfj1nGU

Here are great lectures on neuroscience by Dr Kandell. You can learn a lot from them Diva, understanding why Religious folks accept bizarre delusions as reality just like schizophrenics.Don't expect him to spell it out for you, one must use deductive thinking making the connections. Enjoy:

Christians and other folks infected with delusional beliefs think and reason like schizophrenics or temporal lobe epileptics. Their morality is dictated by an invisible friend called Jesus.
