Showtime has been looking at picking up "Arrested Development" (the thrillingly funny tv series), for a fourth and a fifth season (after Fox cancelled one of the best things *ever*).

Fox and Showtime have been working towards a deal.
But Mitch Hurwitz, Fox's showrunner on Arrested Development, has decided that he will *not* to be making the program again.
And Showtime has specifically said that they wanted Mitch Hurwitz, and so it now seems very unlikely that Arrested Developent will arise from the ashes.

Happily, I am very cool with mortality.
And there's always a chance of a film! :D

(And I haven't seen season three, so no spoilers here please!)

Healthy genes act as team-players. They are teamish!
Their winning plays are
salvations of an aliveness of which they are a part.
Only a fraction of genes are selfish/parasitic (and they
parasitize teams).

David Cross, Arrested Development cast member, is an atheist.
Info from Freedom From Religion Foundation's "freethought-of-the-day".

Even if I am the only fan at RAF, Arrested Development still rocks big-time!

News just in, Will Arnett is starring in a new movie comedy: "as a rich kid Vice President’s son shipped off to Europe to represent the States. Cue madness as this spoiled brat becomes the ultimate ugly American"

Now that sounds fun! :D

PanAtheist,

You are not alone in your greif. My wife and I didn't miss a single episode of that show. I think it was the funniest show on T.V. EVER. But the humor was fast paced and sometimes very subtle. I find alot of people don't like humor unless it's spoon fed to them. In other words, they like to be TOLD something is funny before they will laugh at it. That show was doomed from the word GO. But I will still miss it.

What actually surprises me is that The Office seems to be doing really well and the humor in THAT show is even MORE subtle. Maybe NBC audiences are a bit more highbrow than FOX.

I got the first 2 seasons on DVD and CAN'T WAIT for the third! Portia De Rossi is so hot in that show.

Hey, remember the episode when Tobias dressed up like a giant mole and pillaged the model houses, then George Michael came into the scene in his rocket pack and they both collided to look like they were fighting in front of the japanese investors. I never laughed so hard in my life! I can't wait to see that again! :D

That's great Archy,

One of my favourite gags was when Tobias was trying out for the Blue Man Group, and you could see splotches of blue paint all over the house.

"Produced by the Fox broadcasting Company"
Seems a good enough reason to give it a miss.
(I've never heard of it either)

and what was Arrested Development?

I am not a great lover of sitcoms- finding most of them to be either puerile, boring, stupid or just not funny at all - the ones with canned laughter being often the worst - so when a decent one is brought to my attention I do like to investigate

My husband, however adores them- and can be heard laughing uproariously - on his own- in the lounge - all by himself- on most evenings *sigh* - he just gives me a headache cos he laughs so loud- anyone heard of 'Not Going Out' ? a British sitcom that he is really very attached to - and I haven't yet figured out why. I suspect it is me

Arrested Development was a sitcom that ran for three seasons, got a fair amount of awards and a lot of critical acclaim, but never really took off in the ratings.

That's probably because it is genuinely funny, well thought-out, no laugh track, and sometimes requires multiple viewings to catch all the jokes and innuendos. The average Merkin can't handle that, apparently.

After being constantly moved around in the lineup (usually the death warrant for a show), Fox finally canceled it.

I am looking forward to the movie, if it ever happens.
