Amazing applications of science:
Cheap, simple and early detection of Parkinson's Disease.
(Apologies for the YouTube clip but for some reason Chrome was having problems accessing the TED site).

Next gen stuff: The integration of real/virtual information.

Invisibility and nothingness look an awful lot alike.

Truly had to think about which one to put this in.

"I do not intend to tiptoe through life only to arrive safely at death."
Some drink at the fountain of knowledge. Others just gargle.

Fermi looking for the dark stuff.
Quote:
The Fermi space telescope, designed to catch gamma rays, has seen hints of evidence for dark matter in high-energy gamma rays seen at the galaxy's centre. The Fermi team is now opening a call for ideas on changing how it observes.
That may focus efforts on those early hints, opening the possibility to solve one of physics' greatest mysteries.
I’m surprised the Vatican hasn’t launched its own probe to seek out god’s anal dark matter.

That is pretty neat. And I think the Catholic church has been looking for god's anal dark matter, but so far all they know is that it's not in altar boys.

Always question all authorities because the authority you don't question is the most dangerous... except me, never question me.

I think science can be good and bad depending on how you use it.

Right. Specifically, I think of it like this-

Science just is. It's amoral.

One can then take science or scientific knowledge and apply it in a morally good way or morally evil way (or morally neutral way).

Half the Universes missing matter finally turns up.
Quote:
The missing links between galaxies have finally been found. This is the first detection of the roughly half of the normal matter in our universe – protons, neutrons and electrons – unaccounted for by previous observations of stars, galaxies and other bright objects in space.
Looks like Jesus was being sneaky with us all along.

I'm no expert, but does this suggest that maybe some other god has been hiding her particle from us?!
Quote:
A mathematical discrepancy in the expansion rate of the Universe is now "pretty serious", and could point the way to a major discovery in physics, says a Nobel laureate.
The most recent results suggest the inconsistency is not going away.
Prof Adam Riess told BBC News that an unknown phenomenon, such as a new particle, might explain the deviation.
*sigh* where's Choobus when you need him.
