Always thought a community of atheists was odd
Since that's usually what religious people do, but then people get together to paint nails and play sports too, so what the hell. Saw this forum on the doc "The God Who Wasn't There." I was "saved" from religion four years ago when I realized I just felt stupid praying.

I see it as more an ongoing argument that you can drop in and out of than a community in the theist sense. Actually getting the RAs to agree on anything is like herding cats.
Which is probably as it should be.

welcome to our humble forum, ema!
skribb, in the documentary, brian fleming interviews the raving atheist. so it is not a direct mention of our forum, really. we have somewhat spilt from him and we also added an "s", as in raving atheistS.
also, he no longer blogs....
One of the most irrational of all the conventions of modern society is the one to the effect that religious opinions should be respected....That they should have this immunity is an outrage. There is nothing in religious ideas, as a class, to lift them above other ideas. On the contrary, they are always dubious and often quite silly.

Yeah, at the end of the credits. And there wasn't any really any news saying to me there's no god, I just quit believing because I felt stupid.

That's not us. That's The Raving Atheist, a former blogger (and former atheist?) from whose site these forums were spawned.
He does some commentary in the special features of the DVD.

I think the original RA is still atheist, but his wife/family have become more religious, and he's taken a more "tolerant" stance on religion than his former raving.
