I think poverty has a high correlation with both religion and early parenting. But again, as I always say, how are they measuring the "religiousness" of the population? Was there a JET?

Come on simple mind. It is Satan 's fault that all those poor religiosos fall to temptation and fuck like rabbits with their sisters. Don't blame faith. Faith didn't create the devil................

I am surprised Texas didn't make it in the top 10 religious states.

Its in the top 15 though, along with Utah. The state isn't consistently religious. It has some liberal strongholds such as Austin. I would suppose that's why its not in the top 10.

I think it has to do with the high percentage of transplants from other parts of the country, mainly in the big cities like Houston and Dallas.
Alabama, Mississippi, and such, don't usually attract too many Northerners (except for the religious fucktards like Lily).

Lawd knows, the religious wingnuts, who are actually in charge in Texas (Exhibit A: Governor Rick Perry) are trying their hardest to make this a backward-ass state, by retarding education through their religiot wingnut appointees on state education boards.
With any luck, Perry will be out by the next election.

no luck, most likely
it's only going to get worse
I predict at some point America will become a christian theocracy
not in my life time, but relatively soon
Americans are willfully stupid, we seem to wallow in it, wear it like a medal
proud to be ignorant back wards superstitious fools
hell I still know people that say "the mooslims hate us cus of we's free"
"W" truly was a man of the people, a born again retard
too bad Canada is so damn cold

Guess what Simple, Obama is a man of the people as well, and a self avowed "born again" as well.
But I still don't think this country is as religious as the religious people would like to believe. The fact is most people don't go to church every Sunday morning. Most do not attend bible studies in the middle of the week. Most really don't think the Pope is infallable, Pat Robertson anything but a schmuck, or that Jerry Falwell and Oral Roberts actually landed in a heaven somewhere with an intelleget god.
I could be wrong. But I see the country breaking up before I see the whole thing becoming a theocracy. And I'm not sure that's a bad thing. Our form of government clearly doens't work very well yet there is no mechanism I can see that will reform it short of a collaps.
