Intro of AtomJack

Yo, obviously new here. Another atheist, have been for a little over ten years. I've posted some at the Friendly Atheist and Pharyngula (under a different moniker). I also was a member of II, but got busy and dropped out. Imagine my surprise that they no longer exist. Though I do recall that there were Wiccans and all kinds of other "spiritual" people, crystal worshipers and shit like that. Probably why I faded, there. FA's format is terrible, guess that's what you get when theists run your website. This forum looks pretty free-wheeling, which can be fun. I've been lurking for awhile, but am hard pressed to keep my views out of a conversation, so I joined. Interesting bunch of trolls (and some of the regulars, too!). I'm a retired mechanical engineer. Got my logic on as straight as any atheist should, but I have my quirks. Oh, and the avatar- that's an atom on a lever. Sort of a cheap jack for an atom. It amuses me. Like I said, I have my quirks. But they are mostly innocent, until provoked.

Greetings AJ.
Yup, we freewheel better than most - except when knobheaded dense trolls dip their skanky oars in the mix. I like the avatar, but 'LopSidedSee-SawAtom' doesn't quite have the same ring to it!

Thanks for the welcome. But the floor jack was too much trouble, and if I had used a bottle jack, someone may I have thought I was trying to snitch their ale. I may have to rethink the avatar and/or handle, but I don't like to cause confusion. It's early, yet, I'll think on it. What does it take to change a handle?

Probably involve a lot of grovelling to our Uber Admin via the link at the bottom of the page. Us low-life scum mods have no such powers.

Mightn't it be easier to kill this account and I start over?

It's only a name for a faceless online personality. I don't have a preference, but hadn't thought of a new handle, yet. Who would you rather be? makes me think of Rush's Double Agent, though he asks Where would you rather be? in that song. Double Agent sounds kind of cool for a handle. Or maybe Wilderness of Mirrors. Prolly too many letters, though. Guess I'll go grovel for Double Agent, DA for short; though I haven't had a haircut like that since about '64. Of course, the avatar will have to change. It is kind of weak.

I know absolutely dick about bike racing. I have an old Raleigh, and I wouldn't dare take a turn that fast, I'd auger in. I'll leave him the "AJ" appellation, methinks.

Howdy, AtomJack.

Always question all authorities because the authority you don't question is the most dangerous... except me, never question me.
