I love off the grid housing and now that our own Kate is thinking of trying it NRL, I'm starting this thread to collect resources.

Here is a refrigerator that requires no electricity. How cool is that?

Absorption refigeration has been around for decades, and is still in use. Propane fueled refrigerators like you see in motor homes are one example. These can be readily had for home use by doing a little digging. However, you will have to defrost it yourself, Katers....how badly do you want to rough it?

I'm in a small town in China right now. I am also the only one in my group who is not shitting and vomiting right now. Here, Ghoulslime, try some of this crab that hasn't been cooked and has been setting on the fucking table in the sun all day! Yum! Yum! Yeah, right!

I am on my third week in Taiwan/China. I am so goddamn sick of Chinese food.

I am in a tiny little town in central China right now. There are absolutely no foreigners here. People stare at me wherever I go. Several people have come over to touch me. (No kidding) Unfortunately they weren't hot chicks. I have only found two places which I dare to eat at. Both of them have only Chinese food. Oh, Jesus! Please give me a goddamn double cheese burger and chocolate malt now. I swear that I will be a good Christian.

I have to stick around until tomorrow, because I got invited to a harvest festival. They keep calling me to ask what I would like to eat. Wah wah!

Nah! It's from Plato. It is how they piped light into the famous cave of shadows. Legend has it that, when the solatube was installed, the diffuse light erased all of the shadows and the captives, no longer having anything to talk about, went nuts, died and rotted in their chains.
