or educate women in oppressive countries / regimes / cultures- make it a law to have universal education and preventing women / girls from getting the education -not along religious lines and not in segregated schools - illegal
thats how the feminist movement was started- through education - the protests did a lot yes but the main work has been raising women's consciousness about their own state

Yes that too . So we got: ban the burka, compulsory ejumakayshun for girlies, & care about the creatures you eat. One more line & we got them surrounded.
Everybody draws a line. Where would we be if everyone only drew little circle round themselves?

While we are banning burkas, can we also ban children and fucking adults from having their jeans hang down to their knees so their knickers show. I know the prison history, but it needs culling.

Well, testing the ban is off to a fine start.
Quote:
A French court on Thursday heard the country's first case against women refusing to obey a new law banning the wearing of Islamic face veils in public.
Only one of the women — called Hind — appeared at the court, and she was barred from entering after refusing to remove her veil for the duration of the hearing.

meh. let them wear the fucking tent. but in that case, they can't drive.
One of the most irrational of all the conventions of modern society is the one to the effect that religious opinions should be respected....That they should have this immunity is an outrage. There is nothing in religious ideas, as a class, to lift them above other ideas. On the contrary, they are always dubious and often quite silly.

Let them wear the garb to court and charge them with another count of the violation.

Oh noes, I wonder if this is in one of the French speaking bits of mooseland?

The Supreme Court of Canada will attempt to balance Islamic beliefs against the bedrock elements of a fair trial on Thursday in major clash of constitutional rights. At the centre of the case is a sexual assault complainant known as N.S., who does not want to testify against two men accused of raping her unless her face is obscured by a religious veil, or niqab.

Would violate American constitution "right to face one's accuser" i.e. no anonymous charges. The plaintiff must be identifiable so the state can't just manufacture non-existent complaints by non-existent "victims".

The victim not being identified to her potential attackers is perfectly understandable. In the UK wouldn't a screen be used?
