I was reading the comments over at Pharyngula, and someone mentioned that if you take out all the non-italic letters from his post, and read them backwards, it says "Dedicated to Aubrey, in the arms of Jeesus" (I verified that).

I'm not sure what to make of that. What's up with the backwards Satanic message, and the misspelling of "Jesus"?

Why is this so shocking?

Didn't y'all see this coming from a mile away?

Aside from the fact that it gives some Christians on the Internet gloating privileges and a very fasle hope that all atheists are capable of a similar conversion, it's a non event.

Every day there's a former self-professed agnostic or atheist who, after some struggle, decides to become a Roman Catholic Christian, a Mormon, a born-again Christian, a Jehovah's Witness, a Sunni Muslim, a Rosicrucian, a Scientologist, a believer in psychic phenomena and so on.

Of course, the reverse is true, as well, in addition to Christians who become Muslims, Roman Catholics who become Jehovah's Witnesses and on and on and on.

Who knows why beyond the likely speculation that it brings them comfort.

Why? Because people are stupid, that's why. I would also wager that a LOT more people turn to atheism every day than atheists who turn to religion.

Think of it as Skull Island for theistic beliefs...Even if you survive the Choobusaurus there is still that ravine full of giant atheistropods waiting to make a meal of you.

Insanity knows no bounds, but seriously if RA converted, then it has to be due to some drug overdose or maybe a death threat.

I think he just wants to be a shitlord to impress some christian beaver.

Maybe he's still having conversion sex with his cat-licking wife who probably converted him? Or maybe he's no longer updating the RA site because he's too busy singing Jeebus songs in the insane-asylum called church?

Just so. I noticed I news about Mothers Theresa's alleged loss of faith got short shrift from believers of all flavours.

I saw her interviewed once and was distnictly underwhelmed by what appeared to be not-very-bright,narrow minded old biddy.

BUT, from what I can gather, Madalyn Murray O'Hare was nasty piece of work. I guesss one should not conflate personaility with character.

The message is gone now.

Oh my ever-sweet, loving Jesus. I've never gagged so much. I think I need medical attention.

Please, don't read the comments. Save yourselves the pain.

i'm sorry i read them, realmk...
somebody called the theists congratulating TRA (i refuse to call him TRT) "vapid and glassy-eyed", and that description is spot-on....

what a bunch of Kool-aiders....

One of the most irrational of all the conventions of modern society is the one to the effect that religious opinions should be respected....That they should have this immunity is an outrage. There is nothing in religious ideas, as a class, to lift them above other ideas. On the contrary, they are always dubious and often quite silly.
