On Saturday night, I was at a married couple's place for dinner when an idiotic argument between them escalated into a vicious fight. I can't really remember what it was about -- something to do with Iranian erections -- partly because I was determined to tune them out and partly because I had eaten a magic muffin a couple hours earlier (went to see "Moon" -- solid quality sci-fi film, btw) and the I-don't-give-a-fuck effects were still lingering. Anyway, while I was trying to enjoy a New Zealand sauvignon blanc (How can something that tastes vaguely of cat pee be so tasty? It is though!), the wife appealed to me and my date to adjudicate their contretemps and admit that the other was being unreasonable. Well my date agreed with her -- quelle motherfucking surprise! -- and so she got roped to their retarded and pointless fight. Well I begged out of it and went back to daydreaming and drinking. Here's the thing: I was the only one in the apartment who wasn't behaving like a raving lunatic, and yet I was ultimately considered to be the asshole by all three of them.
