Only on those strange little islands off the coast of Europe, and maybe a few other obscure, backwater kinds of places, does twat rhyme with cat.
But in the real world, in other words the US of fucking A, we know better than to talk like that, which does rhyme with cat, because doing so is just silly and fucking weird and un-American, you cat-rhyming twaughts.
P.S. You're just lucky we don't invade your asses and teach 'you lot' (rhmes with twat) how to talk right! Too bad you don't have any goddamn oil.

Wow, that brings things into focus, doesn't it. No wonder we hung out in Africa so damn long before getting restless and hitting the road. For some reason, even though I have looked at a world map once or twice in my life, I've always had the feeling that China was larger than that.

it's the Mercator projection used in most maps these days that makes the western world look bigger than it is.
Other projection types are linked to at the bottom of the page-Robinson is pretty good as it shows the world in its entirety without distortion. Gall-Peters is also good for showing true sizes of continents- although there are still loads of political arguments about it lol.

Right. This clearly explains it all:
Quote:
The following equations determine the x and y coordinates of a point on a Mercator map from its latitude φ and longitude λ (with λ0 being the longitude in the center of map):
This is the inverse of the Gudermannian function:
The scale is proportional to the secant of the latitude φ, getting arbitrarily large near the poles, where φ = ±90°. Moreover, as seen from the formulas, the pole's y is plus or minus infinity.

I am getting mixed signals here. Open hands denote sincerity but written-on hands denote insincerity. What's a fellow to think?
