Philistines- you just need to go to a decent play - Shakespeare when done well on stage is fantastic- apart from Romeo and Juliet and taming of the Shrew- which are cack- but even those two done well are good. Best is any of the Henrys as long as they don't have Ken Brannagh in them definitely don't take that shite by that twat* Gibson as anything remotely near what Shakespeare wrote but do go and see a decent rendition of Hamlet if you get a chance

I've always found Shakespeare's writing to be the biggest load of tedious, uninteresting shite forced upon me as a youngster. I failed every exam with him in and shivered at the thought of facing more of his bollocks.

I did like the Doctor Who portrayal though - a dense womaniser with severe halitosis!
Are you mad? Shakespeare practically invented the English language. Now you apologize to him or I'll have to send Dame Maggie Smith over to your house. I warn you, she'll cut a bitch.

Edited:
And check out this insult from King Lear:
Quote:
A knave; a rascal; an eater of broken meats; a base proud shallow beggarly three-suited hundred-pound filthy worsted-stocking knave; a lily-livered action-taking knave a whoreson glass-gazing super-serviceable finical rogue; one-trunk-inheriting slave; one that wouldst be a bawd in way of good service and art nothing but the composition of a knave beggar coward pandar and the son and heir of a mongrel bitch: one whom I will beat into clamorous whining if thou deniest the least syllable of thy addition.
That's a badass mutha (shut yo mouth)!

Pah - call that an insult?
I reckon the mighty Choobus did more for the English language, insults and theology than any of our so called professional scribes.
Give it a few years and the Chooblog will outsell ol' Bill's bollocks!

Tis true that our erstwhile cuddly curmudgeon "art the best o' th' cutthroats" (metaphorically speaking, of course). Were it possible for Shakespeare to make his acquaintance, I have no doubt the Bard would exclaim: "How now my sweet creature of bombast?"

And fast buddies they'd be anon.

Or Choobus might just tell him to fuck off.

It's a date.

But we'd still have to take Smelly with us, as he's not really a Philistine. He only plays one on the Internet.

shh, you'll blow my cover.

I did once walk out of an English Literature exam (Shakespeare was on the menu) and scored "0" - a prize FAIL. I was hauled before the headmaster and severely bollocked for opining that "Shakespeare is boring crap" - I still hold that view.
