Watching the lunar eclipse while lying on the warm concrete with a couple of acolytes and a bunch of ants:

Me: "Yes, planet earth. It's earth's shadow on the moon now." Acolyte 2: "So then what makes the moon shine?" Me: "The sun." Acolyte 2: "Oh no! Hey, so should we be looking at this without special glasses?!" pulling his cap down farther over his eyes. Me: "We're fine." Acolyte 1: "So, earth is the planet making the shadow. I never thought of it that way. Thanks!! You're so smart!!"  "I do not intend to tiptoe through life only to arrive safely at death." Some drink at the fountain of knowledge. Others just gargle. |
