Does anyone see a relationship here? Pure capitalistic economics that is. Natural selection and the invisible hand seem to be very similar.

Indeed. Not exactly the same, but there are parallels arising over competition for scarce resources and interdependencies of limited markets. Game Theory is pretty heavy in oligopolies, for instance, (like in the automotive industry, where one company bases its decisions on what it expects from its few competitors rather than purely on the demands of the market) as well is in the evolution of social communities (where morality can develop from purely selfish motivations).

Known historical fact - Darwin was influenced by Adam Smith (as well as Malthus). Stephen Jay Gould wrote an essay on it called "Darwin and Paley meet the invisible hand" which you can find here.

"You care for nothing but shooting, dogs and rat-catching, and will be a disgrace to yourself and all your family"
